"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:10
The purpose of the IMPACT program is to develop a lifestyle of service by providing opportunities for leadership outside of academics and athletics and allow students' spiritual gifts and talents to be used to impact our community for Christ. It is also a time of fun and fellowship as classmates often work together.
Students who choose to participate may select any area of service (see the guidelines listed below). A student completing 20 hours or more of community service will be recognized at the end of the school year. Folders in the IMPACT board will contain log forms and students will return completed forms here as well. Each student's service hours will be recorded on an opening basis and will be available year to year.
The responsibilities of each participating student are:
- Complete log forms along with the signature of an adult knowledgeable of the service performed
- Turn in log forms (place in folder on board or in Renweb) by deadlines listed on IMPACT board
- Make and keep one copy of each log form for your own records
Guidelines for completing 20 hours of service:
- LCA workdays (volunteer work on property including work days for football/baseball/soft fields, etc.) any work completed in this area will count up to 6 hours
- Any community service done beginning June 2009 until end of school year deadline
- Mission trips that students participate in will count 15 hours
Please remember these area that will not count towards community service:
- Service for which you receive money or some other form of payment or credit (ex. LCA teacher aide)
- Fundraising for political purposes
- Service performed prior to June 2009
- Service done with any organization that the recipient had to pay a fee to be involved in the organization
Linda Hancock and Barbara O'Neal will be responsible for recording hours of service for each student. If you have any questions concerning the IMPACT program, please email or call: Linda Hancock or Barbara O'Neal.
