Loganville Christian Academy’s marching band — known as the Marching Lions — thrived in their first competition of the school year. Hosted at Baldwin High School in Milledgeville on Sept. 27, the Lions returned home with several remarkable honors.
The color guard and overall band received Excellent ratings for their performances, while the percussion section earned a Superior rating. LCA also took first place in their class, outperforming a group that marched with exactly twice as many students.
The Marching Lions achieved this out of a field of 16 marching bands.
Ryan Baker, LCA’s band director, was impressed with the students’ performance.
“We are incredibly proud of our marching lions,” Baker said. “The competition was an early one, but the students worked incredibly hard. It was held in Milledgeville, GA at Baldwin High School, and 16 marching bands attended. The band scored an excellent rating in overall band and colorguard, and a superior rating in percussion. We also won first place in our class, beating a group that marched exactly twice as many students!"
Next up on the Marching Lions’ calendar is Saturday, Oct. 25, when the band will perform in their final competition of the season at Pike County High School.
