LOGANVILLE, Ga. — Friday, Oct. 24, a new chapter was celebrated in Loganville Christian Academy’s 27-year old story. LCA held its groundbreaking ceremony to commemorate the construction of its new Lower School Building & Performing Arts Center.
Head of School Rachel Ernst mentioned in her remarks how LCA began with the mission of “preparing students academically, spiritually, and socially for God’s call on their lives.” This new building represents the next step in that mission started by Doug and Christy Monda.
“It is more than brick and mortar; it’s a space designed to cultivate imagination, learning, and excellence. Here, students will study the sciences and the arts side by side. They will write, create, perform, and problem-solve—all in an environment that keeps Christ at the center of every pursuit,” Ernst said. “We believe deeply that the arts and academics are not separate from faith, but expressions of it. Every brushstroke, every note, every solution to a challenging equation can become an act of worship when it’s done for God’s glory. This building will stand as a place where those moments of discovery and inspiration happen every day.”
Several people — ranging from the board of directors, educators, students, alumni, former staff members, etc. — were on-hand to witness the momentous occasion.
David Snell, chairman of the board of directors, spoke during Friday’s ceremony. He highlighted that LCA has built five new buildings on campus in the past five years debt-free. Snell echoed Ernst’s sentiment that the standard of LCA is not lowered but, instead, will be raised with the addition of this building.
“Academically and through all our extracurricular activities, every parent who brings their child to LCA will know and understand that we strive to provide a safe, first class experience for our students,” Snell said. “Most importantly, everything we do here is done by considering Jesus first.”
The Lower School Building & Performing Arts Center will assist the entire LCA campus. It will provide new connections between Lower, Middle, and High School students. There will be 18 classrooms, a dedicated 500-plus seat theater for Chapel, Fine Arts, and Events, as well as new common spaces to help deepen community.
Overall, the building will be able to accommodate 350-plus students.
Long-time educator Mrs. Kit Wittner, who is currently the Kindergarten Lead Teacher, was a part of the groundbreaking. She joined her fellow teachers and students in shoveling dirt to mark the occasion.
Wittner highly anticipates the addition of the new space for our Lower School students and staff to enjoy for generations to come.
“After 26 years of teaching in a modular or temporary classroom building, I am beyond thrilled to share that we have finally broken ground on our new school building! This milestone is more than just new walls and classrooms — it’s a beacon of hope and a testament to our mission,” Wittner said. “With this new space, we will be able to welcome even more students and have a greater impact, sharing the love and teachings of Jesus with our community. When a building stands strong, so does the promise of growth and the lives we are called to reach. I can’t wait to see all that God will do through this new chapter!”
Construction is well underway at Loganville Christian Academy. The grand opening is expected to be in August 2026.
Thank you to Premier Construction and Synovus Bank for their partnership in this endeavor.
LCA’s “Go Beyond” campaign is still in progress with over $4 million of the $8 million goal raised. If anyone wants more information about the capital campaign, visit https://www.lcalions.com/page/beyond.
Amid Friday’s celebration, Ernst declared her enthusiasm for, not just this new building, but the overall future of Loganville Christian Academy.
Ernst said, “We break ground today in faith, with joy, and with confidence that the best days of Loganville Christian Academy are still ahead.”
