LOGANVILLE, Ga. — Senior Ella Masterson has been named a 2026 Georgia Scholar, an honor awarded to just 162 students statewide.
The recognition, announced on April 1, highlights students who demonstrate excellence in both academic achievement and community involvement.
Amid a busy senior year applying for colleges and scholarships, Ella stated that it eventually feels like students are just a statistic. But something feels different about the Georgia Scholar for her.
“Being a Georgia Scholar is different because its purpose does not aim to choose between a lot of good candidates, but to recognize all the students that have been working hard for so long,” Masterson said. “High school can often feel like you only do things to add to your resume to get something else, but being a Georgia Scholar is a good opportunity to step back and realize your accomplishments for what they are, not compared to other people.”
The Georgia Scholar program, administered by the Georgia Department of Education, recognizes high school seniors who have excelled in school and made meaningful contributions to their communities.
As part of the honor, Masterson will receive a Georgia Scholar seal for her diploma, as well as a graduation cord during the commencement ceremony on Friday, May 15.
Head of School Rachel Ernst praised Masterson for her achievement.
“Congratulations to Ella on this accomplishment,” Ernst said. “Ella is a wonderful part of the LCA community, and I have no doubt that she is going to accomplish great things. Your LCA family is very proud of you, Ella!”
