Always a Lion: Martha Caulk Retires

After sixteen years of service, Martha Caulk is retiring from her position as the Lodge Receptionist at LCA. During her time at LCA, she has worked as the Upper School Administrative Assistant and transitioned to her most recent role as the Lodge Receptionist back in 2010. While these have been her two titles at LCA, she has always been so much more to the LCA family.

Originally hired in 2004, Ms. Caulk has walked through almost every season and transition LCA has navigated. Throughout her years of service, her love and enthusiasm for her work and the LCA family has never wavered. While it is difficult to put into words how much we love and miss her presence on our campus, many have shared their personal experience working closely with Ms. Caulk.

Heather Watkins, Assistant to LCA’s Athletic Director, had this to say about her time working with Ms. Caulk: “It has been an honor to work with Martha for the past 5 years. She made me smile and laugh every single day. I watched her as she greeted students, parents and guests, whether at the front desk or at athletic events. She always made them feel at home here at LCA. She was always willing to help, always willing to pray, and always had a listening ear. I will truly miss working with her.”

Glenn and Molly Dunston, LCA’s Directors of Concessions, share their time with Ms. Caulk: “Martha has been such an inspiration to us throughout the years! We have laughed and we also have shed a few tears. We really got to know Martha through our workings in the Athletic department doing concessions for LCA for the last several years. Martha would work with us at certain events and she is just a LOVE!! We knew right away that Martha was more like family than anything else and always will be. To walk into the Lodge area and see her there with a smile and sweet words, I just can’t imagine how this new year will be without her there. Although all good things must come to an end, and we wish Martha the best God has for her, we are SO glad we got to know her, work with her and love her. Our hearts have a special spot just for her!! We love you Ms. Martha.”

Third grade student, Grady Loyless, also had a few words to share about his friend, Ms. Caulk: “The very best part about going to LCA basketball games is sitting with Ms. Caulk at the door and helping her collect money. She would always let me collect and count the money and we would laugh a lot when someone paid with a $100 bill! I love hanging out with Ms. Caulk.”

To say Ms. Caulk will be missed is an understatement. Her presence on our campus was a blessing for each person that walked through the door. While her position will be filled, her heart will never be replaced. Thank you, Ms. Caulk, for your years of service, love, and encouragement at LCA. We hope you will visit soon. You will always be a significant piece of the LCA family.
