Alumnus Feature || Devon Ford

Like every good book, the LCA story is filled with chapters. As new students enter the LCA story, other students turn their tassels and transition to the next chapter in their lives. At LCA, we believe in the phrase “once a Lion, always a Lion,” so we love to hear from our alumni about where they are in their stories. Hear from Devon Ford, class of 2016, about where God has led his story today as well as how his chapter in the LCA story has affected his life.

I graduated in the class of 2016 from LCA, and I attended LCA for 6 years. Last spring, I graduated with my bachelors in Pre-Law from Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL, and I am currently earning my masters degree from Southeastern along with playing out my collegiate basketball career. I am hoping to move to London after obtaining my Global MBA and pursue a Masters in Law from the University College of London. My biggest accomplishment recently happened last basketball season when my team and I won the regular season conference and the conference tournament for the first time in school history.

Personally, LCA has affected me the most socially. The reason is kinda different, but the relationships that I built with faculty over the years at LCA, in particular: Mrs. Corrente, Mrs, Snell, Mrs. Smith, Mr. Martin, Coach Dossett, and Coach Davis, really gave me a strong support system. It gave me a confidence-boost knowing I had people who believed that I could achieve great things. Being able to call or pop in from time to time to talk about academics or just life has really made a difference. They all have families, but they are still willing to take time out of their day to answer the phone and talk.

I try to come back as often as I can to watch the guys play, and during the summer, I help out with basketball camp. I try to give back with my time because LCA has invested so much of their time into me.

We are so proud of all Devon has accomplished, but there’s nothing we love more than seeing our alumni return home to reconnect and invest in current students. We can’t wait to see you return home soon, Devon!
