LOGANVILLE, Ga. — Loganville Christian Academy’s athletic department will have a change in leadership effective immediately. Heather Watkins is now serving as the department’s interim athletic director, head of school Rachel Ernst announced last week.
The move follows Chad Walker’s resigning the post after a three-year stint to pursue new opportunities. Walker’s last day was April 30.
Ernst is appreciative of the work Walker has done for the Lions.
“The athletic department at LCA has done very well under the leadership of Mr. Walker. Ultimately, Mr. Walker and LCA agreed that it was time for new leadership in the area of Athletics,” Ernst said. “We are certainly excited to see where the Lord will lead him next and appreciate what he did for the Athletic Department while he was here.”
Watkins has been a part of LCA’s athletic department for 10 years and has accumulated vast knowledge. As a result, Watkins’s promotion was a no-brainer for Ernst.
“Placing her in the role of Interim Athletic Director was a natural next step while we work to sort through resumes and applications,” Ernst said. “Mrs. Watkins is a strong leader who shows passion for our student athletes and a desire to keep our programs moving forward without skipping a beat.”
Watkins is appreciative of the trust to lead the Lions’ athletics program at this time.
"Having been part of Loganville Christian Academy’s athletic department for the past decade, I’m excited to take on the role of Interim Athletic Director,” Watkins said. “LCA has been a meaningful part of my journey both personally and professionally, and I’m thankful for the opportunity to serve our athletes, coaches, and families in a broader capacity. I’m committed to leading with faith, pursuing excellence, and investing in strong relationships, while building a culture where team spirit thrives both on and off the field."
