Alumni Spotlight: Megan Bossert

How Megan Bossert Turned Faith and Vision Into a Thriving Business

At 6 years old, Megan Bossert vividly remembers sitting down with colorful cardstock-type paper to make a notebook. Its primary function was to hold the makings of Megan’s new, original language. Megan said, “I would make up a word and I would say, ‘equals house.’”

No name was given to the language, and it never fully developed. Nevertheless, it served as an early sign of Megan’s creativity. Today, Megan exercises her forecasting vision through her own business, Megan Bossert & Co., based in Franklin, Tennessee. The company offers a wide range of services, including copywriting, social media, storytelling, e-commerce, and user-generated content marketing.

It all started with Megan — LCA Class of 2018 — taking a step of faith two years ago. She felt impressed by the Lord to quit her job in the events industry and pursue this venture. Two years in, Megan believes it’s just that type of faith in God that is her company’s “secret sauce,” which also ties into her passion for storytelling.

“At the end of the day, storytelling is what makes the world go around. If you buy or purchase anything or if you are brought into anything in life, it's because you've been bought into someone's story,” Megan said. “Even in the Bible, you see Jesus actually purposely use stories constantly, because he even intrinsically knew that people aren't going to buy into something unless they're bought into your story. At a very young age, I felt called to build that part of my life, understanding that story is everything.”

Megan’s business model is fourfold: Dream It. Build It. Grow It. Read All About It. Her favorite facet of the model is the building portion, stating, “Instead of, ‘How am I just going to profit from this?’ My entire purpose is just to come alongside them and learn how they build it.”

Realizing this dream did not come without hiccups, though. After graduating from the Pridelands in May 2018, Megan went off to college. Originally, she enrolled at Georgia College for a year, pursuing a business degree, which she recognized was not for her. She then transferred to Liberty University for a year and loved it. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she returned to Georgia College. Megan’s full intention was to go back to Liberty University, but she felt like she should remain at Georgia College. Megan shared that she asked God, “If I'm supposed to stay home, even though I don't want to be here, you gotta give me a sign.” And He provided the sign Megan asked for.

Learn the balance between not being complacent — always being someone who dreams big and has a vision for the future — but also learning what it looks like to be content in all things as Jesus calls us to.”

“And the girl I was supposed to room with back at Liberty ended up calling me the next day and we were talking,” Megan continued. “She was like, ‘I'm so glad to hear that you still want to come to Liberty, because I had a dream last night that you were supposed to stay home, that you weren't supposed to come back.’”

In Megan’s third year at Georgia College, she ended up meeting her now-husband. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in ministerial leadership. Megan stated, “We all end up where we need to be.” Aside from her own business, Megan and her husband are plugged into their church, Futures Franklin in Franklin, Tennessee.

Megan attended LCA for five years. She was involved in the Grad2Grad program, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), and was a member of the swim and volleyball teams. Some influential teachers during her time as a Lion include Mrs. Jennifer Smith, Mr. Andrew Martin, and Mrs. Mimi Westbrook. In fact, a significant story in Megan’s life played out in Mrs. Westbrook’s class.

Struggling with grammar in middle school, Megan took Mrs. Westbrook’s grammar test, which she had to pass to move on to high school. Megan failed the test, but Mrs. Westbrook took the time to help her master the material. After another attempt, Megan passed the test and transitioned to high school. That one instance will not be lost on Megan anytime soon. Megan shared, “I'll never forget her because she just really poured into her students and just loved on them so well and didn't ever give up on them. She very easily could have been like, ‘Alright. Whatever. Let's just move on.’ But she just really helped me to learn something that now is a huge part of my life.”

Megan has experienced a lot since her days roaming the Pridelands, and today, she finds herself thriving in ministry and with her own company. One day, Megan aspires to have Megan Bossert & Co. grow into a ministry where she feels called to preach and teach. Through it all, Megan has learned to appreciate whichever season of life God has planned for her in the moment. And that would be the guidance Megan would pass down to current and future LCA Lions.

“My advice would just be, to anyone who's in that time where they're looking forward and they're like, ‘OK, what am I going to do? What am I going to do?’” Megan said. “Learn the balance between not being complacent — always being someone who dreams big and has a vision for the future — but also learning what it looks like to be content in all things as Jesus calls us to.”
